What to show in an Amazon listing video

2026-10-31

A listing video has one job: answer the questions your photos can't. Shoppers often watch with the sound off, so every point has to read on screen without a voice.

Start with the product, not a logo

Skip the logo intro. Open on the product itself, moving, in a clean shot. If the first few seconds show nothing useful, the shopper is back to the photos.

Show what photos can't

Photos are good at the front of the box. Video is good at everything that moves or has depth:

  • Texture: how a serum drips, how a gummy looks up close
  • Scale: the product beside a hand or a common object
  • How it opens: droppers, pumps, lids and seals
  • What's inside: portions, layers and included parts

Use one idea per shot

Pair each shot with one short line of on-screen text. If a line needs two sentences, split it into two shots.

End on the pack

Close on a clear front-of-pack view, so the shopper remembers what to look for and knows they're on the right product.

Check the rules before you upload

Amazon's content rules change, and some categories are stricter than others. Before you upload, read the current video guidelines in Seller Central, and keep every on-screen claim in line with what your label already says.
